The rumors surrounding the Marlins and Rodriguez are continuing to swirl after an initial report regarding a casual conversation between Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria and Yankees president Randy Levine. It ballooned, naturally, into full-on trade speculation amid Rodriguez's struggles at the plate during the 2012 playoffs Starling Marte Jersey. The good news about all of this talk is that the Marlins' actual issues.- For their parts, both Yankees general manager Brian Cashman and Marlins president David Samson denied talks, so there may not be much to these rumors. Then again, how many times have we seen rumors fly that were supposedly "unwarranted" yet turned out to be mostly true?- On the other side, Bob Nightengale said that Rodriguez is more or less gone. Green opted to become a free agent.- The team has also lost Sandy Rosario and Scott Cousins to waiver claims by the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays respectively.Around the League- The Detroit Tigers have clinched a spot in the World Series this season, and but GM Dave Dombrowski is also thinking about their manager position. Longtime manager Jim Leyland appears to be welcome if he wants to return.- The Washington Nationals have a lot of questions to answer, and one of them involves their first base situation with Adam LaRoche. LaRoche had a nice comeback season, but he is a free agent this year.- Apparently neither the Marlins nor the Los Angeles Dodgers have any real interest in Alex Rodriguez.
